Position Summary
The Quality Control Technician II is responsible for the application and maintenance of the Quality System at RIX Industries. This includes determining the acceptability of parts using basic and advanced inspection methods and generating records.
Responsibilities
- Determine the acceptability of parts, processes, repairs, and corrective actions taken, using basic (e.g., hand tools) and advanced inspection equipment (e.g., hardness tester, optical comparator, etc.) and documented information containing the characteristics of the products to be produced, the services to be provided, or the activities to be performed.
- Perform Receiving inspection.
- Perform In-Process inspection.
- Perform Final inspection.
- Perform Final Inspection of Commercial Units.
- Perform Final Inspection of Aerospace or Marine Units.
- Perform Spot Audits as assigned.
- Support and propose necessary changes to the Quality Management System as appropriate.
- Train in and/or support the duties of more experienced Quality Technicians.
- Train, assist, and supervise the duties of less experienced Quality Technicians.
- Maintain inspection and other records as necessary to document and support the Quality Management System.
- Maintain calibration and government property records. Document and implement necessary changes to assigned sections of the quality manual and system.
- Supplemental tasks and duties may from time to time be assigned inside and outside the area of Quality Control.
- Other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3 Years experience in Quality Control or related field.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints.
- Proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments and complex measuring equipment.
- Ability to read and understand corporate structure and how Quality Control affects corporate operations.
- General computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and basic typing skills.
- Practical math skills, up to and including Geometry and Trigonometry.
- Ability to communicate with others to exchange information both orally and in writing.
- Technical competence including knowledge of casting, machining, welding and assembly of complex mechanical equipment.
- Proficient in visual, dimensional and mechanical inspection of precision parts. This includes castings, machined parts, process control and testing.
- Working knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9100, AS9100)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on routine tasks.
- Comfortable using basic root cause analysis and corrective action tools.
- Proficient in documentation, data entry, and following procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person in accordance with ALU 22CFR 120.15. May require the ability to obtain DOD security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in heavy manufacturing operations.
- Some experience in the use and programming of a Zeiss CMM, using Zeiss Calypso software highly desired.
- Weld inspection experience as a certified Visual Weld Inspector, or certified Visible Dye Penetrant Inspector (for example, ASNT or AWS).
- Associate degree in quality management or related field.
Physical Requirements
- Must have the following physical abilities:
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach, and lift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a desk or table as well as machine tools or printers.
