This position is responsible for creating visual communication products that raise public awareness and provide critical information about programs and services to both internal and external audiences. The employee in this position will assist with the development of print publications, websites, data visualizations, and digital assets. Through the Office of Communications, the employee will provide full-service visual design expertise and services for the Department of Public Safety (DPS). The employee will collaborate with other content creators to establish and manage visual assets in compliance with applicable state and federal policies and laws.

The Department of Public Safety is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment. DPS does not participate in E-Verify.

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held.

Two (2) years of professional experience in digital communications, digital design, digital media, graphic design or related field.

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Premiere.

Basic HTML and CSS skills to support website updates and digital asset integration.

Experience producing visual assets for print, web and social media.

Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 and ADA compliance, in visual and digital communications.

Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

A bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, multimedia, communications, or a closely related field may substitute for one year of professional experience OR an associate's degree may substitute for six months of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud.

Experience creating data visualizations and infographics that simplify complex information.

Knowledge of UX design principles, with ability to apply them to public-facing web content.

Proven collaboration skills in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.

Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and digital asset management tools.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
