Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsiblities

The Enterprise Network Services team within the Information Technology directorate is seeking a high-performing individual to join the team as a Senior Infrastructure Analyst.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical support to include installation, operate, monitor, sustain, and secure, firewalls, switches, fabric interconnects, VPN, and access control systems.

Optimize firewall (Palo Alto) and load balancer architectures to support secure, scalable, and agile network operations.

Respond to network changes, network failures, or modified network diagrams by utilizing a variety of network-related technologies: Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), VPN, device redundancy protocols, other exterior or interior gateway protocols, and Quality of Service (QoS) within an IP network that utilize various methods of encryption and transport security.

Implement, maintain, and document Access Control Lists (ACL) in the GCC AOR. Modify all GCC managed network devices on the ACL with no disruption in service. Create, add, delete, audit, and update Deny All/Permit by Exception (DAPE) security policies.

Maintain accurate and complete Ports, Protocols, and Services (PPS) along with Application Layer Filtering records as required.

Direct or coordinate analysis and resolution of network hardware, software and wiring problems.

Supervise or perform network server administration and direct formulation of related procedures.

Monitor network performance and capacity and recommend modifications or enhancements.

Participate in network design including developing proposals for implementation of network components.

Review submitted RFCs and other change configurations for accuracy, feasibility, and implementation concerns within the Enterprise network architecture.

Create, maintain, and sustain accurate and standardized network site diagrams that include all managed devices, active network interfaces, IP addresses, subnet masks, and attached circuits with purchased bandwidth rates.

Prepare procedures, documentation and activity reports.

Provide input into budget and monitor expenditures.

May respond to Help Desk requests to support troubleshooting of workstation and server related problems.

May provide work direction and training to technicians and network engineers.

May lead network projects to design, install, or implement a new system or support modifications or deinstallation of an existing system.

Perform other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent with at least 5 years of related experience.

Strong awareness of technical principles, theories, standards, practices and procedures to include the OSI Model and networking protocols.

Exhibit advanced end-to-end troubleshooting skills for system, network or application and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements.

Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, wi-fi access points).

Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.

Provide backup and second level coverage to Technical Support Representatives as assigned.

Learn and comply with validation requirements, standard-operating procedures (SOP), and change control maintenance for product life cycle.

Provide support to Data Center environments including disaster recovery and backup technologies. Preferred candidate with demonstrated experience in each.

Monitor system performance, resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.

Assists in the creation and implementation of the strategic vision and purpose of IT systems according to the organization’s goals, objectives, and needs.

Ensures the consistent and effective implementation of new or changed IT services, architectures, technology, processes, information and metrics.

Responsible for documenting installation and maintenance processes, capacity planning, test plans, training requirements, and procurement of new IT systems.

Perform within change control and ticketing system environment.

Cisco CCNA or CCNP, Extreme Networks, and Palo Alto certifications highly preferred.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Candidate must be a team player with good customer service skills.

The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Work schedule will be 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change).

Personnel may be requested by leadership to work in excess of 40 hours per week due to projects, activities, and emergences; critical operational demands may occasionally require off-shift work. Participation in after-hours support pool. Requirements include evening and weekend availability.

Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Department of Energy Q Clearance

(position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 (http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=14b1c770db022992d237769fbe9fc519&mc=true&node=se10.4.707_14&rgn=div8) , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Annual salary range for this position is:

$95,139.20 - $142,708.80.

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
