Position Overview
As the Engineering Manager for Nuclear Projects, you will lead and coordinate all engineering activities within the owner/operator organization of a nuclear uranium enrichment facility. This pivotal role requires a robust multidisciplinary engineering background and exceptional leadership skills to ensure that all engineering work is technically sound, regulatory-compliant, and consistent with the project's safety, schedule, and budgetary constraints.
You will serve as the primary technical liaison for internal stakeholders and project partners, overseeing everything from conceptual design and detailed design oversight to construction support, commissioning, and facility operations planning.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Instrumentation & Controls, Electrical, Civil/Structural, HVAC) throughout the project lifecycle.
Act as the Engineering Point of Contact for the owner organization; approve technical decisions, oversee design development, and ensure system integration.
Ensure all engineering deliverables meet NRC regulations, DOE expectations, and relevant ASME/ANSI standards for enrichment and nuclear facility design.
Manage interfaces with Systems Engineering teams, licensing teams, EPC contractors, and equipment vendors.
Support technical reviews, risk assessments, and design verifications.
Contribute to the development of Integrated Safety Analyses (ISA) and licensing documentation.
Provide input for procurement specifications, ensuring equipment and systems fulfill design and safety requirements.
Develop and maintain the engineering schedule, supporting budget management for engineering resources.
Facilitate the technical resolution of field issues during construction and commissioning phases.
Champion Configuration Management and Design Control processes.
Ideal Qualifications
To be considered for this exceptional opportunity, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or related discipline); Master’s degree preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience in complex industrial facilities, with at least 5 years in a nuclear or NRC-regulated environment.
Broad experience across major engineering disciplines: Mechanical, Instrumentation & Controls, Electrical, Civil/Structural, and HVAC.
Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating with EPC contractors.
Strong knowledge of NRC 10 CFR Part 70 requirements and quality assurance processes.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical writing abilities.
Additional Information
This is a full-time, onsite position with occasional travel required for oversight of vendor sites, EPC partners, and participation in regulatory meetings. Security clearance eligibility is necessary.
Salary Information
Salary range: $140,000 - $180,000 annually (based upon experience, qualifications, geographic location, and business considerations).
