Job Summary: The Senior Network Design Engineer plans, organizes, designs and supervises the selection and implementation of new or existing network hardware, software architecture and configuration schemes for optimum cost, function and performance. This role is responsible for aligning network architecture with the overall goals and objectives of St. Francis Health System (SFHS) Information Services, ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure connectivity across the organization.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field, preferred.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Off-campus system support duties will require use of a private vehicle. Valid Driver's License, Motor Vehicle Report, and proof of vehicle liability insurance in amount required by Saint Francis Health System (SFHS) guidelines will be required.

Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of large network infrastructure support greater than 1000.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other applicable software. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP), Windows workstation support, routing protocols, network device configuration (switches, routers, firewalls), use of network diagnostic tools, physical network design and knowledge of Unix and Microsoft networking protocols. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal that present clear and concise information. Sound ability to perform under stress and in emergency situations. Strong ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to perform detailed network research as required to provide effective network support.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Establishes network goals and objectives, which are consistent with SFHS information systems' overall project planning and objectives. Provides overall guidance to network services infrastructure priorities and direction. Plans, coordinates, and implements network projects to meet information services objectives. Provides technical support as required to remedy technical difficulties and to meet user service level objectives. Provides technical supervision, project management, implementation guidance, and scheduling for network related projects assigned to subordinate network engineers and technicians. Provides technical guidance for information services and serves as a technical resource and mentor for other information services' personnel. Develops, participates, and sets guidelines for the development of complete standards and documentation for networking hardware and software architectures and configurations. Performs high level planning and design. Designs network related business solutions and oversees the development of project cost estimations.

Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
