Description:
Metal Trades, A Keel Company located on Yonges Island South Carolina is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist / Setup person. Hours are 6:00AM to 4:30PM Monday – Thursday (four 10hr days). Friday and Saturday are available for overtime as business needs require.
Required:
Read and interpret customer blueprints, shop drawings and create setups to machine parts using 123 blocks, 2” standoffs, Angle plates etc. to meet customer blueprint requirements.
Have a working knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerances, setup and operate 3 and 4 axis CNC machines, and CNC lathe. With knowledge on how to read and edit G-code / M-code. Scan through program to ensure work offsets and tool numbers match what is in the machine. Spot simple code errors such as: Incorrect RPM and/or feed rate on a tap. G81 (drill cycle) where a G84 (tap cycle) should be. Drill and tap/threadmill running the same depth, calculate speeds and feeds per tool manufacturer specifications. Set work offsets using a Renishaw Part probe and/or edge finder. Set tools using a Renishaw tool setter and/or by hand, if machine does not have a tool setter. Understand how to setup and utilize dial bore gauge, use micrometer, caliper, gauge blocks, height gauge and other gauging to ensure parts meet the dimensional requirements of our customers.
Background experience with basic hand tools, grinders, deburr tools belt sanders (and other related tools). Familiarity with Manual machines. Knee mill, manual lathe, band saws as well as others.
Plus but not required:
5-axis/multi-axis CNC experience.
Knowledge of common variables, system variables and macro's.
Writing/knowledge of g-code programs using Renishaw probe cycles.
Exposure to lean manufacturing / 5S principles.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of machine operation experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience in steel fabrication is preferred.
