Position Description
Join Applied Medical and be at the forefront of revolutionizing medical device manufacturing. As a Metals Manufacturing Engineer apart of our Metals Process development team, you will be working onsite at our global headquarters responsible for using skills related to sustaining and developing the manufacturing processes as part of a cross-functional team. The Engineer's primary responsibilities are debugging, observing, and expediting shop orders. You will assist with developing and updating engineering documents and investigating new tooling, materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Project management skills, including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks, are valuable to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills are essential for effectively conveying ideas, collaborating on projects, and presenting findings or recommendations.
  • Problem Solving: You will be responsible for identifying and resolving issues that arise. This will include taking action to solve the problem by generating ideas for the solution, finding out the reasons behind the problem, and implementing the solution.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, product managers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure seamless integration of designs into the overall product development process.
Position Requirements
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
  • Two to five years of relevant Engineering work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment and processes related to Metals and post processing.
  • Experience with Solidworks, Microsoft Office suite, and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent technical writing.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Working knowledge of a variety of materials and mechanical designs.
  • Design for manufacturability.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and detail oriented.
Preferred
The following skills and attributes are preferred:
  • Mechanical or Machining Engineering with at least two years of project work, design, and shop experience.
  • Machine shop and fabricating experience.
  • Experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Millsm Swiss Screw Machining, Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM), Stamping, and Laser cutting.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) quality systems.
  • Experience with software such as Solidworks, PowerMill, and MasterCAM.
  • Experience with Minitab or other statistical analysis software.
  • Leadership or project management experience.
  • Excellent organization, communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience in the medical device industry.
