Job Description
The Lead Engineer supports the Engineering leadership team by overseeing daily maintenance operations, performing hands-on technical work, and supervising junior engineers. This role ensures the upkeep, safety, and performance of the property's infrastructure, while also managing engineering inventory and conducting technical training for the team. The Engineer Lead sets the tone for proactive, polished, and service-forward back-of-house standards at Faena.
This full-time position has an hourly compensation range of $42.00 an hour.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest room and public area maintenance requests, ensuring timely service recovery.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, and fire safety equipment.
- Maintain the integrity, organization, and operational condition of all tools, equipment, and engineering spaces.
- Complete shift logs and communicate ongoing work orders and priorities during handoffs between engineering shifts.
- Monitor the Building Management System (BMS) and respond immediately to alarms, system alerts, and irregularities.
- Support the setup and breakdown of hotel event spaces as needed and assist with special project work or room resets.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors during inspections, repairs, and ongoing service calls.
- Assist in maintaining full compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations including DOB, DOH, and OSHA requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized engineering department and mechanical rooms.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies and urgent guest or building needs.
- Conduct painting, drywall patching, and wallpaper repairs across guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
- Repair or replace damaged flooring and wall surfaces, including tile work in kitchens, bathrooms, and back-of-house locations.
- Perform basic carpentry and furniture repairs on items such as chairs, tables, benches, and casegoods.
- Maintain all kitchen equipment including but not limited to ovens, grills, hoods, dishwashers, and walk-in refrigeration systems.
- Collaborate with and assist other hotel departments to resolve operational needs that require engineering support
- Lead routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems.
- Coordinate minor capital projects or repairs as assigned.
- Act as shift lead and point of contact for Engineering Technicians during assigned hours.
- Provide coaching and performance feedback in collaboration with the Director or AD of Engineering.
- Conduct ongoing technical training and cross-training to ensure team readiness.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in hotel engineering, luxury residential, or facilities maintenance.
- Proven supervisory or shift-lead experience preferred.
- Universal EPA certification or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems.
- Familiarity with building automation systems and energy management tools.
- Excellent organizational and inventory skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Availability for flexible scheduling, including overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Train new hires and junior engineers on Faena service expectations, safety standards, and equipment operation.
