Position Title: Engineer III (Physical)
Location: Fort Mill, SC
Position Status: Full Time
Pay Rate: $130,000.00
Position Description:
Provide substation physical engineering, technical support, and supervision to a Transmission Substation engineering and design team. Deliver safe, cost-effective, and quality engineering and design services for a variety of utility substation projects, battery energy storage systems, and solar collector substations. Perform direct billable client work and project management support. Lead discipline work, manage project schedules and budgets, support proposal development, cost estimating, and business development efforts. Provide technical expertise and guidance to identify, analyze, and resolve complex engineering problems. Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and documentation. Develop and maintain professional customer relationships, monitor deliverables, and ensure project goals align with company objectives. Mentor junior engineers and designers.
Required Skills/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering) from an ABET-accredited university
  • 5-7 years of engineering experience in the electrical power delivery industry
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year
  • Strong understanding of substation design including equipment arrangements, grounding, lighting, and construction as applied to utility substations and transmission lines up to 500kV
  • Experience creating physical design scopes, budgets, and schedules for substation projects
  • Ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and create substation physical arrangement drawing packages
  • Experience with project management, schedule monitoring, and cost control
  • Understanding of Protection and Control and Civil/Structural disciplines related to substations
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations, including bus and lightning protection calculations
  • Experience working on-site during construction to resolve engineering issues
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
