Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of Sterile Processing Technicians. Responsibilities:
Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of Sterile Processing Technicians. Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with department leaders and staff to assess learning needs and competencies of Sterile Processing staff.
- Develops, coordinates and implements competencies for new hire orientation.
- Assesses and documents the progress of new hires throughout orientation. Provides remediation if necessary.
- Develops, coordinates and implements required competencies, resources and continuing education for Sterile Processing staff.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
- High School diploma or GED.
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician) through CBSPD within 1 year. Preferred: CRCST at hire for those with direct sterile processing experience.
- 2 years of experience in Sterile Processing or as a Surgical Technologist in an operating room.
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
