POSITION OVE R VIEW:  

As a Cafe Manager, you w ill be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the cafe , ensuring exceptional customer servic e, managing staff, maintaining cafe financial records, and fostering a welcoming and efficient environment for both customers and employees. Your leadership and ability to clearly communicate and multi-task while co-operatively working within a team comprised of individuals with diverse abilities will play a crucial role in driving the success of the cafe.  

Key Responsibilities:  

Operational Management:  

  • Plan and maintain daily cafe activities, including opening and closing procedures, food preparation, and service standards.  
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, sanitation guidelines, and food quality standards.  
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely stock replenishment.  
  • Manage equipment maintenance and troubleshoot any technical issues.  

  Staff Management & Team Collaboration  

  • Recruit, train, and schedule cafe staff, including baristas and servers.  
  • Provide guidance, support, and regular performance feedback to maintain a motivated and high-performing team.  
  • Create staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.  
  • Meets weekly with operations/financial directors   
  • Leads FOH team meetings  
  • Attends relevant meetings across the PCC enterprises.  
  • Gauges training needs and takes corrective action as necessary.  
  • Is proactive in seeking out and identifying cafe needs and communicates them to Operations Director in a timely manner.  

  Customer Service :  

  • Create a warm and inviting atmosphere for customers, ensuring their needs are met and that they have a positive experience.  
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.  
  • I mplement strategies to enhance customer engagement and loyalty.  

  Coffee Preparation and Service   

  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages, ensuring quality, consistency, and presentation  
  • Follow recipes and brewing techniques to create delicious espresso-based drinks, pour-over coffee and more.  
  • Froth milk, pour latte art, and customize beverages according to customer preferences.  
  • Basic food preparation including but not limited to heating of pastries , slicing bagels and serving spreads to accompany breads.  
  • Brews cold brew as necessary  
  • Authority on Nitro preparation.  

  Cleanliness and Machine Maintenance :  

  • Maintains a standard of cleanliness in FOH.  
  • Is ServSafe Manger Certified  
  • Delegates cleaning tasks as necessary to Baristas.  
  • Ensures all Baristas and Staff are upholding cleanliness standards.  
  • Thoroughly knows all equipment, their operations, and care standards used in the cafe, including but not limited to the toaster, merry chef, espresso machine, batch brewer, and g r inders .  
  • Knows procedures on changing Nitro kegs and tanks.  

  Cash Handling and Point-of-sale (POS)  

  • Operate the cash register and POS system accurately for processing orders and payments.  
  • Has authority on refunds and voids.  
  • Has access to safe key and ability to audit/reset cash box.  
  • Edits and maintains Toast menu ensuring new items are properly categorized and allow for easy flow at POS  

  Financial Management:  

  • Monitor and manage the cafe's financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, and revenue generation.  
  • Keep accurate records of sales, expenses, and inventory levels.  
  • Implement pricing strategies that balance profitability with competitive market conditions.  

  Menu Development and Quality Control :

  • Collaborate with chefs or kitchen staff to develop drink specials, codify brewing standards for coffee and tea, and standardize drink crafting techniques.  
  • Create comprehensive recipe list and routinely updates as needed.  
  • Attends regular cuppings with roasting team to ensure quality and tasting notes of coffee served.  
  • Creates syrups, concentrates, and other added flavorings to products, as well as maintains stock.  
  • Manages all recipes for specialty craft drinks to be tested and sold.  
  • Routinely checks in on Baristas to make sure they are upholding crafting standards.  

  Marketing and Promotion :  

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to attract new customers and retain existing ones.  
  • Utilize social media, local events, and partnerships to increase the cafe's visibility in the community.  
  • Create and distribute promotional materials and offers.  
  • Familiar with Canva
