This is a hybrid role based out of Chicago that reports directly to the Senior Manager-PM Development. This opportunity is open only to US citizens and authorized residents living in the Chicago area.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases (on-premises and cloud) across production, staging, and development environments.
- Manage and implement database security policies to protect sensitive data.
- Perform regular database audits to identify irregularities or potential security breaches.
- Design and maintain database schemas and create SQL scripts for table creation and data manipulation.
- Collaborate with developers and engineers using SWS CloudWatch to improve application performance and resolve database issues.
- Apply database patches and remediate vulnerabilities identified by enterprise scanning tools.
- Facilitate deployment of database client connectivity tools.
- Ensure high availability, performance tuning, and optimization of SQL Server databases.
- Work with application developers and DevOps teams to integrate RDS with cloud-based applications.
- Analyze and recommend cost optimization strategies for RDS instances.
- Stay updated with the latest AWS RDS features and SQL Server advancements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Typically, 5+ years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server Administration and Active Directory.
- Experience as an Oracle DBA.
- Linux Administration experience.
- Ansible DevOps experience.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as an MS SQL Server DBA, with 2+ years in AWS RDS for SQL Server.
- Expertise in MS SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 and related technologies.
- Strong expertise in Amazon RDS for SQL Server administration, monitoring, and automation.
- Knowledge of SQL Server high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
- Experience with database monitoring tools such as SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and Performance Monitor.
- Hands-on experience with indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning techniques.
- Proficiency in T-SQL programming, query optimization, and stored procedure development.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for database deployment in AWS environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, cloud-driven environment.

Salary: $79,800.00 - $148,000.00
Pay Type: Salaried
