The Tax Manager will join Eva Garland Consultings growing Accounting & Advisory practice, providing federal, state, and local tax compliance and planning services to 150+ early-stage life-science and technology companies. Reporting to the VP of Accounting & Compliance, youll partner with clients and internal teams to deliver timely, value-added guidance, and help shape EGCs tax service offerings. Specific job duties

• Manage a portfolio of federal, state, and local tax compliance engagements.
• Prepare, review, and file corporate tax returns, extensions, and supporting schedules.
• Lead internal initiatives to streamline tax workflows, adopt new technologies, and enhance service delivery.
• Develop and maintain tax process documentation, checklists, and internal control procedures.
• Advise clients on complex tax issues, primarily relating to R&D tax credits and IRC 174 deductions
• Advise clients on tax planning opportunities and considerations.
• Lead tax planning projects related to equity incentives, stock issuances, restructurings, and M&A transactions.
• Coordinate and respond to IRS, state, and local tax notices, examinations, and audit inquiries.
• Guide clients through sales and use tax reviews, nexus studies, and voluntary disclosure agreements.
• Mentor and train Staff Tax Accountants on technical research, return preparation, and client communication.
• Collaborate with the Accounting & Compliance team to integrate tax considerations with overall client financial strategies.

• Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines and client expectations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication: simplify complex tax concepts for non-tax professionals.
• Advanced tax research and problem-solving ability using databases.
• Proven leadership and mentorship skills to develop high-performing tax teams.
• Keen attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance.
• Ability to rapidly learn new tax legislation and integrate insights into client strategies.
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with tax software.

Minimum Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
• Minimum of 68 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or industry.
• Hands-on experience with federal, state, and local tax compliance, tax planning, and research.
• Experience leading small teams and managing client relationships.
