$75,000.00/yr - $135,000.00/yr Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Licensed Land Surveyor / Surveying Manager
to lead our survey operations in
Middlesboro, KY . This role is responsible for overseeing survey crews and technicians to perform high-precision land and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) work for construction, mapping, and infrastructure development. The Survey Manager will also play a key leadership role in staff development, project planning, and client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and mentor survey technicians and field crews Manage survey operations for multiple concurrent projects Define scope, objectives, and timelines for survey-related work Perform advanced research on deeds, maps, and historical survey evidence Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local surveying regulations Represent the firm in meetings with clients and stakeholders Prepare and review data, records, plats, and legal descriptions Coordinate with engineering, utility, and right-of-way teams Establish and maintain surveying methods and QA/QC protocols Lead safety initiatives and foster a culture of operational excellence Support KYDOT route surveying, subsurface utility locating, and mapping
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred) 5+ years of land surveying experience Licensed Land Surveyor in Kentucky or ability to obtain licensure Proficient with Trimble Instruments, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Carlson, and Microsoft Office Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills Familiar with KYDOT route surveying standards and practices (preferred)
Working Conditions
80% office / 20% field Field work may require exposure to heat/cold, humidity, and rough terrain Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) Travel: Up to 20%
