Dematic is hiring a Solution Design Controls Engineer who understands ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems), focusing on Storage and Retrieval Machines and their onboard and off-board control systems, to join our Customer Service Solution Development team in estimating solutions for our customers.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $65,000 - $140,000 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.
Tasks and Qualifications: This is What You Will do in This Role:
Understand the design of complex systems that integrate electrical controls hardware, programming, and software to estimate complete controls solutions for customers.
Complete complex material specifications, read and comprehend schematics and PLC programs, and follow up on technical details.
Make recommendations related to productivity improvement, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction.
Assist in providing estimates for semi-complex projects to the solution development team.
Perform technical interchange and knowledge transfer regarding processes and product applications in system design.
Perform standard professional work within the field.
Explain and discuss complex, unusual problems with team members to develop controls solutions for customer requests.
Identify and resolve complex problems, applying problem-solving skills to most situations.
Provide guidance or training support for professional staff.
Travel up to 20% to various Customer and Dematic locations across the U.S.
What We are Looking For: Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
5-8 years of experience in controls engineering and material handling
Experience designing and commissioning automated material handling systems, including electrical design, PLC, HMI, drive, and motion controls
Experience estimating projects (hours, resources, etc.)
Proficiency in Rockwell Automation PLC programming languages and RSLogix software
Proficiency with Siemens PLCs and drives
Experience with AC and DC drive systems
Understanding serial and Ethernet communication protocols
Experience with Material Handling Equipment, especially Storage and Retrieval Machines and associated control systems, including solution concepting and estimating to support sales
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to interpret complex controls work and apply industrial controls knowledge to Material Handling equipment such as SRM, pallet conveyor, Dematic Multishuttle, etc.
Strong customer requirements analysis and communication skills
Ability to stay current with material handling innovations
Effective management of multiple opportunities and deadlines
Reliable project forecasting and reporting skills
