Principle Auto Controller - Dealership Operations Who You Are

Principle Auto is looking for an exceptional Controller to join our rapidly growing dealerships. The purpose of the Controller is to provide exceptional service to all associates and oversee the preparation of the financial statements for their assigned dealerships. The Controller ensures that the balance sheet and income statement are in accordance with GAAP and develops and implements processes to improve compliance and safeguard company information related to accounting functions. The Controller will work directly with the Director of Accounting, Executive Officers, and General Managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all financial transactions and postings. The Controller will manage a team to ensure all related payables and receivables are recorded accurately and paid or collected timely. What We Offer

Manage and oversee the preparation of financial statements for multiple dealerships. Review accounting accuracy and completeness of retail and wholesale deals to ensure adherence to policies and internal controls. Hire, train, develop, and supervise Assistant Controllers, Office Managers, and accounting staff, including accounts payable and receivable clerks. Monitor deal flow between the F&I office and billing clerks; investigate deals as needed. Provide weekly reports on gross variances and deals not posted to accounting within the F&I office. Verify that pack accounts are correctly stated. Attend manager meetings and communicate with the Corporate Leadership Team to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Identify internal control issues by reviewing existing policies and verifying changes in authorized personnel. Assist in year-end audit preparation. Understand and adhere to Principle Auto Privacy and Information Security Policies. Hold weekly staff meetings with direct reports. Oversee financial statement preparation and ensure accuracy of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual accounting data. Prepare monthly financial statements within the first week of each month, analyze results, and develop actionable items to improve profitability. Forecast quarterly and annual financial goals to maintain dealership profitability. Maintain knowledge of dealership DMS (DealerTrack) reporting software. Develop reports to support dealership operational and profitability goals. Assist with year-end review of accounting records by external auditors. Review financial statements and ledgers, resolving discrepancies with the accounting team. Manage banking operations including cash management, disbursements, receipts, reconciliation, and reporting. Ensure accurate processing of all work, manage daily bank deposits, and oversee commercial billing. Manage expense reporting software and ensure compliance. Qualifications for the Staff Accountant

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required. At least three years of relevant experience required. Previous OEM New Car Dealership experience is required. Proficiency in Excel is required. Additional projects, reports, and tasks may be assigned to support evolving business needs. The Controller is responsible for managing these tasks as directed by senior management to fulfill their role effectively.
