Aerostructure Engineers - Metallics & Composites

to join our Engineering department based in Wichita, Kansas. You will be part of a team that supports the design and development of aircraft structures, systems, and repair solutions. Duties include performing analysis/design efforts for non-metallic parts while working in close collaboration with colleagues. Methods include the use of multiple applications to develop solutions to satisfy requirements. Your challenges: Perform analyses to assess that structural integrity requirements have been met using standard hand and computer methods. Document analyses in support of trade studies or detail drawing sign-out for airframe structure. Ensure all tasks and activities required are correctly planned, monitored and executed to achieve customer time scales. Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements. Liaise with appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum solutions. Liaise with other engineers in order to ensure that methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments. Provide mentoring for new team members. Your boarding pass: Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, or Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis, and/or mechanics of materials. Minimum 9 years total structure analysis experience in airframe design/repair programs. Experience in composite aircraft structure (airframe). Ability to work in a dynamic team environment. Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and bill of material systems. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Dependable, self-motivated and accessible. Knowledge of maintenance repair shop practices, equipment and capabilities. A strong computer background, including MS Office application experience (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail). Authorized to Work in the US. Prefer experience with A350, A220 Pylon or other Airbus commercial aircraft. Physical Requirements: Onsite or remote: Onsite 90% Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
