Freelance Women’s Sweater Designer
to join our client's in-house Design team. Salary/Hourly Rate: $40/hr - $45/hr (Based on experience) Position Overview: The ideal candidate for the Freelance Women’s Sweater Designer role will be proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, have a keen eye for fashion trends, and possess strong technical design skills to create innovative and marketable sweater collections for our private label clients. Responsibilities of the Freelance Women’s Sweater Designer:
Design and develop seasonal women’s sweater collections aligned with brand and retailer needs.
Create detailed flat sketches, CADs, and technical packs using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Research and interpret trends, color, and yarn direction to ensure product relevance.
Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Production, and Sourcing teams to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
Attend fittings and make adjustments based on feedback to achieve the desired fit and style.
Manage multiple design projects from concept through final sample approval.
Required Experience/Skills for the Freelance Women’s Sweater Designer:
Minimum of 6 years of experience in women’s sweater design.
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Strong understanding of sweater construction, yarns, and knitting techniques.
Excellent trend forecasting and market analysis skills.
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Freelance Women’s Sweater Designer:
Experience in private label apparel design for major retailers.
Knowledge of PLM systems.
Strong technical sketching and spec development abilities.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design is required.
