. Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Industrial Health and Safety Specialist to join our team during a critical phase of facility development. This role will focus exclusively on occupational safety and health (OSH) in an industrial environment and will play a key role in building and implementing OSHA-compliant programs for a new nuclear fuel fabrication facility.

During the first two years, the position will be heavily focused on writing and implementing safety procedures and compliance programs to support safe facility design, start-up, and operations. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the company’s safety culture and establish foundational safety programs that will influence operations for years to come. After the initial development phase, responsibilities will transition to supporting ongoing day-to-day safety operations.

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities Develop, review, and implement safety and health programs, procedures, and policies in accordance with OSHA standards and best practices. Collaborate with engineering and operations to integrate safety into facility and process designs during pre-operational phases. Conduct comprehensive hazard assessments and support the identification and implementation of appropriate hazard controls. Investigate safety incidents and near-misses; analyze root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Monitor safety performance and conduct trend analyses on injury rates, hazard reports, and compliance findings. Participate in Process Hazards Analysis activities with multidiscipline teams to identify potential criticality, radiological, chemical, and fire/explosion hazards and determine potential consequence levels to support the Integrated Safety Analysis process. Support identification of training needs/deficiencies and identifying priorities for training of departments and programs. Conduct occupational health evaluations of the workplace, recommend controls, and assist with PPE selection and usage.

Apply relevant safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI, ACGIH, AIHA) and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Conduct field inspections, job safety analyses (JSAs), and work permit reviews to identify safety concerns and job-specific risks. Participate in multidisciplinary design and process hazard reviews to identify potential risks and safety-critical controls. Create and maintain clear safety postings and administrative controls to support safe behaviors and compliance. Support emergency preparedness and response efforts in collaboration with site emergency teams. Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and extensive latitude for independent judgment. Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document. Perform additional industrial safety duties as assigned by management. Job Profile Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or a closely related technical field from an ABET-accredited college or university. Other degrees may be considered as a substitution with additional professional work experience in safety that is aligned with assigned role. Typically, ten years of experience in a health and safety related role in nuclear manufacturing or industrial/commercial construction, or a similar highly regulated industry such as chemical manufacturing. Strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910) and relevant consensus standards (ANSI, ACHIH, AIHA). Demonstrated experience developing written procedures and implementing regulatory compliance programs. Experience communicating technical information effectively both orally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences, ranging from engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel to regulators and management.
