Overview
A growing merchandising and distribution company is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller to oversee core accounting operations and support financial reporting. This role is newly created due to the consolidation of a related business unit and offers the opportunity to contribute to a casual, collaborative environment with long-term growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP Prepare financial statements, variance analysis, and management reports to support strategic planning Develop and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance Collaborate with operations, sales, and purchasing teams to optimize processes and drive efficiency Support budgeting and forecasting processes with insights and analysis Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and filings Stay current on accounting standards and regulatory changes, assessing their impact on financial operations Contribute to ERP system implementation and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred but not required 4+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong understanding of distribution accounting principles, including inventory costing, revenue recognition, and logistics Proficiency in SAP and advanced Excel skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and collaboration skills Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity Experience with inventory management systems and ERP platforms is a plus
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan. Seniority level
