Senior Manager, Biotransformation Platform
will be responsible for managing the Biotransformation group and its activities, as well as providing Molecular Biology Subject Matter Expertise in strain engineering and/or protein engineering. Core Responsibilities: Facilitate & enable growth mindset by managing and providing resources and managing barriers to execution for the Biotransformation team. Manage and oversee implementation of project roadmaps and project progress through stage-gate processes. Monitor individual and team performance metrics, objectives, goals and decisions. Coordinate in-house protein and strain engineering, gene expression, protein purification, structure determination experiments. Provide additional molecular biology subject matter expertise & support to projects. DoE assessment & pre-approval, Quality Control and preliminary economic feasibility modelling. Record and document all stages of R&D work, oversee Lab information & knowledge management system (e.g., ELN). Communication with external research parties, follow-up on milestone achievement etc. Liaison for daily interaction with other R&D platforms (Chemistry, Analytics, Engineering etc.). Oversee internal resource distribution and properly allocate equipment/machinery time for the team. Ensure Compliance with laws and internal policies. Responsible for admin. processes & procedures (Safety, HR, IP, Procurement, Finance, Budgeting & expense control, Capex, Infrastructure Maintenance etc.). Qualified candidates will have: PhD with 3+ years of experience in molecular biology, biotechnology or related field. Approximately 3 to 5 years managerial working experience in similar role. Experience with protein and strain engineering, protein expression and purification, molecular biology principal equipment and automated systems. Applied knowledge in modern molecular biology & enzyme engineering techniques, gene expression, bioinformatics, strain engineering and protein expression optimization methods. Understanding of metabolic engineering, biochemistry, microbial physiology, genetics, and fermentation.
