Overview:
Praescient Analytics is seeking an
AWS Cloud Engineer
to support an active contract for the Department of Justice. The AWS Cloud Engineer is responsible for building, deploying, and maintaining secure, scalable, and compliant cloud infrastructure in support of the Department’s mission. This role plays a critical part in the creation and optimization of the AWS Landing Zone, with a focus on automation, performance, and security. The engineer collaborates closely with development, security, and operations teams to ensure that systems meet technical requirements and comply with federal standards such as
FedRAMP
and
NIST 800-53 .
Key Responsibilities
Deploy and configure AWS services such as EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and others to support mission-critical applications. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation and related tools. Assist in system modernization efforts by supporting the design and deployment of cloud-native architectures. Perform security and compliance tasks including patching, logging, monitoring, and adherence to federal frameworks. Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and cybersecurity professionals to deliver deployment and automation solutions. Document system configurations, standard operating procedures, and cloud environment standards to support audits and operational continuity.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. Cloud-based certifications are preferred. 3–5 years of experience in cloud engineering or systems administration, including a minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience with AWS Strong scripting capabilities in Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Proficient with DevOps tools such as Jenkins or AWS CodePipeline. Skilled in managing Linux/Windows server environments and cloud networking concepts including DNS, VPC, and VPN. Familiarity with AI/ML cloud tools is a plus (e.g., Amazon BedRock, Azure OpenAI, Lex, Comprehend, etc.).
