Atrium Health Stanly practice

in Albemarle, NC! Atrium Health/Advocate is an innovative healthcare organization committed to providing health, hope, and healing for our communities. We are dedicated to being the best place for care for patients and the best place to care for our healthcare workforce and teammates. Small and rural communities face unique challenges in providing access to high-quality, coordinated, and collaborative care close to home for patients. General Surgery is an essential service at all our acute inpatient facilities. Our mission requires innovative solutions to the challenges of surgical care at small community hospitals. These solutions must advance quality, optimize local care, and facilitate coordination when specialist or tertiary care is needed. Over the past two years, the AHMG Surgery Care Division has created solutions to the historical decline in general surgical volume at Stanly. With coordinated efforts among teams at AH Cabarrus and AH Stanly, we have seen a 40% growth in general surgical case volumes at Stanly. Atrium is committed to expanding multiple service lines in this rural community, with future opportunities to develop a rural training pathway for residents and APPs from various service lines. We seek clinical leaders interested in advancing this mission. Atrium Health is recruiting a BC/BE general surgeon interested in emergency general surgery to join our team at AH Stanly in Albemarle, NC, a 100-bed acute care hospital. The surgeon will play a vital role in elevating urgent and emergent general surgical care at the facility. Responsibilities include covering urgent/emergent needs and partnering with two established Atrium Health general surgeons who participate in call coverage and elective practice. The schedule is 7 days on/7 days off, with a competitive salary, benefits, and bonus structure. Limited clinic coverage may be required during workweeks, primarily for urgent needs and hospital follow-ups. AH Cabarrus, a 457-bed Level III trauma center located 35-40 minutes west of Stanly, collaborates closely with Stanly’s team. Surgeons at Stanly benefit from coordinated care with specialists such as interventional radiology, HPB, bariatrics, plastic surgery, colorectal, gyn onc, and others at AH Cabarrus. Atrium Health is committed to surgeons’ professional development through the AH Acute Care Surgery Network, offering monthly calls, research, education, and projects to improve urgent general surgical care system-wide. Leadership structures connect community surgeons with mentors locally and regionally, facilitating pathways for positive impact. Additionally, the AH Medical Group is renowned for programs in physician leadership development, well-being, and career growth. Stanly County is known for its rural communities, natural landscapes, farmland, forests, and nearby lakes (Badin and Tillery). Opportunities for outdoor activities include parks, water sports, golf, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, and ATV riding at Uwharrie National Forest.
