Overview
Touro Pharmacy invites applications for a 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. The specialty of interest is ambulatory care.
Responsibilities
Develop an innovative clinical practice at the Dental Medicine and primary care clinics at Touro College of Dental Medicine and serve as a preceptor and role model for students on introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences.
Provide didactic classroom teaching and recitation instruction on campus.
Participate in college committees, attend departmental meetings, and perform other faculty duties as appropriate.
Contribute to research activities, including poster presentations, publications, grant applications, clinical trials, and scholarly work.
Provide reports and documents as requested by Department Chairs, Directors, and Deans.
Practice Site Responsibilities:
Perform medication reconciliation for patients in the clinic.
Consult on patients taking anticoagulant and/or antiplatelet medications before and after dental procedures.
Provide pain management services.
Perform prospective medication reviews.
Administer vaccines (flu, pneumococcal, shingles).
Counsel patients on medications prescribed by providers.
Design patient education leaflets for commonly prescribed agents.
Respond to drug information queries.
Perform drug utilization reviews and provide interventions regarding prescribed agents, including review for interactions, contraindications, renal dosing, and cost-effective prescribing.
Perform screening tests as indicated and permitted.
Perform pharmacogenetic testing when indicated.
Provide clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy education to providers and residents.
Update on prescribing laws and regulations in NY State.
Detect, report, and manage adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
Develop collaborative drug therapy management protocols per NYS law.
Review medication storage to meet regulatory requirements.
Offer rotations in pharmacotherapy services to residents.
Lead and collaborate on research projects with faculty and students.
Qualifications: Education/Experience
Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
Post-graduate training such as PGY-1 and PGY-2 residencies or fellowships, or equivalent clinical experience.
Previous academic experience and board certification (e.g., BCPS or BCACP) are preferred.
Eligibility for licensure in New York State.

Maximum Salary: USD $125,000/year. Minimum Salary: USD $100,000/year.
