Position Overview The Claims Division is seeking a team member to join the Executive Assurance Team as Senior Claims Examiner. Responsibilities include managing a caseload of claims, including Public D&O, Private Company D&O, Financial Lines, and Private Equity claims.
Primary Responsibilities
Identify and assess coverage issues, draft coverage position letters, and retain coverage counsel when necessary.
Develop and implement strategies related to coverage, liability, and damages.
Maintain contact with claim staff, business line leaders, underwriters, defense counsel, and brokers.
Investigate claims, review relevant documents, and analyze jurisdictional statutes and case law.
Review litigation materials, including depositions and expert reports.
Analyze and direct risk transfer, additional insured, and contractual indemnity issues.
Retain and direct counsel as needed.
Assess coverage, liability, and damages to recommend reserves.
Prepare and present reports to senior management.
Travel within the U.S. for mediations, trials, and proceedings.
Negotiate claim resolutions.
Review defense counsel invoices and process payments.
Maintain claim diaries, post reserves timely, and respond to inquiries.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred.
5-7 years managing professional liability claims at a carrier, broker, or law firm.
Proper adjuster licensing preferred.
Excellent communication, evaluation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Willing to travel up to 25%.
