Position Summary: Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Machinist 3 to support operations at our Bethpage, NY facility. The Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision metal parts to exact specifications. This role requires advanced machining skills, blueprint reading, and a solid understanding of MasterCAM and HAAS CNC equipment. Key Responsibilities: Set up and operate various machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and planers. Interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications. Lay out, mark, and machine metal stock to create precision parts. Develop and write CNC programs using MasterCAM software. Select appropriate tools, cutters, and machine settings for optimal performance. Perform standard shop computations related to dimensions, tooling, feeds, and speeds. Fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment. Monitor and verify part quality according to statistical process control methods. Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards at all times. Basic Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent trade school completion. Proficient in MasterCAM programming software. Extensive experience operating HAAS vertical and horizontal milling machines. Strong background in precision machining to exacting tolerances. Preferred Qualifications: Completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training. Prior experience in aircraft part fabrication or aerospace manufacturing.
