Role Summary The Estimating Manager 2 will review and execute bids on multiple and/or more complex projects with a specific focus on Electrical scopes. This position will be responsible for all aspects of the estimating and bid process, from review of plans and specifications, to soliciting and negotiating prices from contractors and suppliers. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

Makes decisions within defined limits of authority and consults supervisor on other decisions.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core Estimating Family - Core

Performs quantity survey of Mechanical/Electrical materials shown on project plans.

Reads and outlines project specifications.

Maintains an audit trail of the quantity survey from estimate to estimate.

Supports vendor/subcontractor pricing/bid solicitation and coordination.

Supports the distribution of plans and specifications to vendors/subcontractors.

Works collaboratively and creates relationships with project team members, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.

Gains field operational exposure through onsite project support, as opportunities exist.

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core In addition, this position will be responsible for:

Prepares complex mechanical/electrical cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals for multiple projects.

Prepares material and other costs summaries for quotes from vendors.

Completes review of mechanical and electrical options as part of preconstruction and systems analysis.

Develops electrical scopes of work for bid coordination.

Assists in bid analysis and subcontractor selection.

Develops sequencing requirements and provides solutions to meet schedule.

Tracks value creation items and documents in project files.

Develops and manages scopes of work for electrical and mechanical trades, including responsibility matrix, plans, specifications, and bid coordination.

Uses project schedule and logistics knowledge in estimates.

Collaborates on constructability reviews and provides professional deliverables.

Leads coordination during bidding and solicitation.

Creates constructability reviews and reports.

Participates in job pursuit presentations.

Applies project schedule knowledge to preconstruction.

Prequalifies subcontractors and develops bidder lists.

Provides system analysis and logistics support for projects.

Builds relationships with clients and subcontractors.

Presents estimates and proposals, and participates in procurement.

Coordinates feasibility studies on lifecycle costs.

Leads electrical cost history analysis.

Provides training and mentorship.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to perform work accurately and timely.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.

Ability to read and understand drawings and specs.

Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Fast Duct, Fast Pipe).

Knowledge of construction methods and trades.

Understanding of field operations.

Ability to prepare quantity surveys.

Knowledge of relevant regulations (MBE, WBE, SBA).

Strong relationship-building skills.

Education

Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred.

Equivalent relevant experience considered.

Experience

Minimum 5 years estimating experience.

Preferred total of 8+ years construction experience.

Mission Critical Market experience (preferred).

Working Environment

Valid driver's license required.

Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

May require overnight travel.

Willingness to work non-traditional hours.

Office environment with possible extreme conditions.

Frequent sitting, viewing screens; occasional standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling.
