Controller
with deep experience in the
industrial and MRO supply chain environment . This role is critical in managing the financial health of our operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and supporting strategic decision-making across procurement, inventory, and distribution functions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory controls, and vendor financial management in a high-volume, transaction-heavy environment. Key Responsibilities • Assist with the annual audit and respond to audit requests. • Analyze and prepare financial reports for management and investors. • Manage the month end and yearend close processes, including preparation of GAAP journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger review, variance analysis and financial statement preparation. Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, A/R, A/P, inventory accounting, and cost accounting. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for internal stakeholders and external auditors. Inventory & Cost Accounting Manage inventory valuation and reconciliation processes across warehouses and distribution centers. Implement and monitor standard costing systems and variance analysis for MRO product lines. Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to optimize inventory turnover and reduce obsolescence. Budgeting & Forecasting • Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts. Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts, incorporating input from sales, operations, and procurement. Provide detailed variance analysis and actionable insights to department heads. Support pricing strategies and margin analysis for industrial and MRO product categories. Internal Controls & Compliance • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with best practices. • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations. • Full ownership of company taxes including payroll, sales, property and income taxes. Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with financial policies. Maintain documentation for SOX compliance and support internal/external audits. Monitor and manage tax compliance, including sales/use tax across multiple jurisdictions. Operational Finance Support Partner with supply chain and purchasing teams to evaluate vendor terms, rebates, and cost-saving opportunities. Analyze financial impact of logistics, freight, and warehousing decisions. Support ERP system enhancements and financial reporting tools tailored to industrial distribution. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred). 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or senior accounting role in the industrial/MRO sector. Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory management. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Epicor, MS Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills. Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills. Seniority level
