This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Residency Training: Completion of an approved residency program leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency must be approved by the VA or equivalent, including ACGME, AOA, or other recognized programs. Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA residencies are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and appointed on an intermittent or fee basis. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred Experience:
Successful completion of an ACGME or AOA-accredited residency in anesthesiology. Demonstrated anesthetic management during residency or through clinical activity documentation. Physical Requirements:
Heavy lifting and carrying (45 lbs and over), straight pulling, pushing, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, walking, standing, bending, rapid mental and muscular coordination, near vision correction, hearing (aid permitted). Duties
This is an open and continuous announcement; applications will be reviewed no later than April 22, 2025, and the position remains open until filled. Provide comprehensive anesthesia care, including history and physical, admit, evaluate, and diagnose, meeting community standards, including general, endotracheal, laryngeal mask, regional, spinal, epidural, and monitored anesthesia care. Document anesthesia plans in the electronic medical record. Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision of CRNAs. Placement of central venous and arterial lines. Mentor, coach, and teach physicians, CRNAs, and residents in advanced airway management. Coordinate perioperative flow to maximize operating room utilization. Manage advanced airway procedures, including fiberoptic assistance, and both emergent and non-emergent airway management, in compliance with VA directives. Additional Information
