Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy. Degree: Doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school. Licensure: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice in the U.S. Residency Training: Completion of VA-approved residency in an accredited core specialty, leading to eligibility for board certification. VA academic faculty may require board certification. Residency Accreditation: Approved by ACGME, AOA, or equivalent non-US programs with at least five years of verified practice in the U.S. Residents in training are eligible to be appointed as PRPs, who must be fully licensed and work under supervision. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical Requirements: Must meet physical standards, including a pre-placement physical exam, ability to lift 15-44 pounds, reach above shoulder, use fingers and hands, walk and stand for several hours, kneel, have depth perception, distinguish colors, and hear adequately. This is a drug testing position with mandatory random testing. Duties
