Flight Operations Coordinator
Acts as a resource to the Flight Training Coordinators, Training Managers and Crew Resource groups by providing on-site advice, guidance, assistance, and direction in all aspects of the Flight Training coordination position, performance management, and associate relations. Initial training of new hire flight training coordinators and yearly recurrent training of current employees to include, but not limited to, Fox, and AQP as well as the Pilot contracts. Maintains a high level of customer service within the workgroup. Identifies training needs, performs special assignments, creates, and recommends programs and tools that enhance the flight training coordinators. Essential Duties: Establish and maintain a compliant and efficient electronic training recordkeeping system and ensure training facilities and equipment are in compliance and meet the needs of instructors. Schedule and teach initial and yearly training coordinator recurrent training, while maintaining both programs keeping them up to date with procedural, contractual, and software changes. Complete competency checks to ensure a high level of knowledge and understanding of a coordinator is maintained. Review current procedures and training for quality assurance to improve as needed, including ensuring department's manuals are updated and current. Identify undocumented procedures and training, clarify information needs, and develop new processes, procedures, and training. Track and implement new or updated department procedures through audits of current materials and literature. Understand and follow the language of complex contracts including interpreting and making contract-based decisions. Assist with the implementation and maintenance of current and new computer systems updates, including validation testing and troubleshooting. Conducts initial training of new hire flight training coordinators. Assists in the planning of all initial, upgrade, and recurrent training events in accordance with the Pilot Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs). Plans other pilot training programs, including Recent Upgrade Training (RUT), Remedial Training, and Special Tracking. Works with Flight Safety to monitor simulator status and ensure reliable maintenance data is collected. Coordinates pilot training schedules for Instructors/Evaluators (I/E's), utilizing available information to forecast instructor count and pull in accordance to union recommendation and company needs based on specific, FAA and union-guided criteria. Schedule initial instructor training to establish training qualification and utilize reports to maintain both pilot currency and instructor currency. Other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A / B.S) or equivalent in Aviation or related field or equivalent work experience At least 5 years aviation experience Excellent communication, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, as well as leadership and team building skills. Ability to perform high-level decision making and goal setting within strict time constraints. Intermediate proficiency with Fox Qualtero and/or other aviation related software systems. Advanced proficiency in MS Office. Preferred Education and/or Experience: At least 3 years of training coordinator experience. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations. Reasoning/Problem Solving Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to understand and work at an abstract level and utilize technology as a tool to solve complex scheduling problems. Decision Making: Makes decisions daily on use of resources, performance and budgets. Decisions could require additional expenditure of resources if not sound decisions. Physical Demands: Able to move about the work environment. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. Work Environment: Typically, not exposed to extreme environmental conditions. Must be able to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel Requirements: None.
