Senior Applied Scientist . Our team is customer-focused, driven by curiosity, creativity, teamwork, agility, accountability, and a desire to learn daily. In the Power Apps Studio team, we are creating a new generation of low-code/no-code app development in the AI era. Our goal is to make app building easy, fun, and collaborative, with AI assisting users at every step. The Studio framework empowers developers to define requirements, data models, build UIs, define logic, test, deploy, and monitor apps in production. We are researching solutions to leverage AI throughout the app development process.

We are a highly collaborative group where everyone's ideas and contributions count. As an Applied Scientist, you will conduct applied research to solve real-world problems with app building solutions. Successful candidates will collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence product design and architecture, maintain end-to-end AI/ML solution lifecycle, and operate Copilot features in production. We work in an agile, data-driven, fast-paced environment, empowering engineers and scientists to innovate from concept to scale.

Responsibilities

Conduct applied research to develop innovative AI and machine learning models addressing real-world challenges.

Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of ML models, from prototyping to deployment and monitoring.

Create and adapt training and fine-tuning algorithms for language models.

Bring research projects to completion, resulting in new algorithms, prototypes, theories, tools, or data collections that solve open research problems.

Operate and support 24/7 AI model usage by customers.

Document and share best practices across the organization.

Mentor and onboard research interns or entry-level team members.

Stay updated on AI and ML advancements and apply new techniques to complex problems.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of related experience.

Or Master’s degree with 3+ years of related experience.

Or Doctorate with 1+ year of related experience.

Or equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet security screening requirements, including Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degrees (Master’s or Doctorate) with 6+ or 3+ years of relevant experience, respectively.

Experience creating publications (patents, libraries, peer-reviewed papers).

Industry experience with applied research projects.

Programming skills in Python, TypeScript, C# preferred.

Experience with foundation models, domain adaptation, multimodal models, prompt tuning, NLP, and Human-AI interaction is a plus.

The typical salary range for this role in the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year, with higher ranges in specific locations. Benefits and additional compensation details are available here.
