GENERAL SUMMARY: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO), reporting directly to the hospital CEO, provides physician leadership to improve clinical outcomes. Responsibilities include performance improvement, risk mitigation, safety, quality standards, medical education, overseeing the medical staff office, managing medical school affiliations, and residency programs. The CMO acts as a liaison between physicians and Case Management to optimize resources, enhance patient service, improve staff satisfaction, and reduce costs. The role also involves guiding AdventHealth for Children (AHFC) and its network to ensure safety, quality, and integration of pediatric care across all locations. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Proficiency in collaborative environments within children's hospitals and matrix leadership structures. Experience in leading Pediatric Programs and Networks growth through delegation, teamwork, and communication. Leadership in clinical quality and performance improvement, especially in pediatric care. Ability to represent pediatric clinical, operational, and medical requirements effectively. Clinical expertise and leadership skills for collaboration with senior administrators and physicians. Visionary skills to develop strategies and oversee implementation. Comprehensive knowledge of pediatric clinical services. Proficiency in professional communication and presentations. Proven excellence in physician leadership roles within health systems or medical groups. Business acumen in strategic planning, finance, healthcare economics, and team building. Leadership in quality management, outcomes programs, staff development, and clinical protocols. Knowledge of managed care and health policy with a forward-thinking approach. Exceptional clinical competence as a practicing physician. Representation skills to advocate for hospital priorities. Management and leadership capabilities emphasizing collaboration. Effective teaching, coaching, counseling, and communication skills. QUALIFICATIONS: Board Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). Minimum of ten years' post-training experience demonstrating clinical and leadership excellence. Preferred: Leadership roles in academic or community children's hospitals; management education such as MBA, MMM, or CPE. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Current, valid Florida medical license. Preferred: Additional certifications relevant to leadership roles. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The CMO will lead initiatives in clinical quality, medical staff management, advocacy, philanthropy, technology, research, and network development to enhance pediatric care and organizational success. Specific responsibilities include overseeing quality standards, participating in ethics committees, leading physician development, representing the organization in policy and professional organizations, and guiding technological and research advancements across the network. This role requires leadership in implementing care models, improving access, establishing cost-effective practices, and ensuring consistent standards across all locations.
