Medical Laboratory Technician Opportunity

The Medical Lab Technician collects blood, performs tests, inputs patient information and test results into the computer, performs computer functions as needed, and assists in other duties as directed by the laboratory supervisor/manager. The Medical Lab Technician is proficient in the following disciplines: Hematology, Chemistry, Immunohematology (Blood Bank), POCT, and microscopic urine. Responsibilities include: Accepting responsibility for own actions; offering and accepting constructive criticism in a non-defensive manner. Adhering to hospital attendance and tardiness policy. Adhering to schedule and providing coverage in assigned areas. Adjusting break and lunch times to ensure appropriate department coverage for optimal patient care. Appropriate use and inventory of reagents and supplies. Assisting in maintaining general cleanliness and safety of work area. Performing venipuncture and capillary (finger & heel) sticks on infants, children, and adults. Following protocols for checking and reporting critical values and delta checks per SOP. Qualifications: Must possess MLT or equivalent certification, or be currently eligible to sit for MLT or equivalent certification exam. Certification as MLT (ASCP) or equivalent is required within 180 days of hire. Requires Associates Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
