The Laboratory Supervisor works effectively with each with the Director of Laboratory Service. Provides laboratory technical consulting for White Rock Medical Center. The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the effective management, operation, and safety of these laboratories. They coordinate activities, provide technical support, and manage staff. Essential Functions Responsible for assuring that personnel at designated testing sites perform laboratory procedures meet CLIA, COLA and White Rock Medical Center guidelines for testing. Monitor test systems and their quality control, maintenance records, performance improvement, proficiency testing, and competency assessments for all clinical laboratory testing personnel. Documentation of any corrective action that is needed. Writes and updates policies for new and existing procedures. Provides analysis for long-term purchases or capital equipment. Ability to perform all laboratory procedures and laboratory processes. Responsible for required training/competency and educates by effective training sessions to laboratory testing personnel according to recognized laboratory standards with emphasis on age specific stands as associated both job-related policies and procedures. Assures that laboratory testing personnel are following OSHA and White Rock mandated safety and infection controls guidelines. Performs laboratory testing in competency assessed sections of the laboratory. Collaborates with other departments, medical professions, consultants, and organizations (including government and advocacy groups) to develop, support, and coordinate patient care and related administrative duties. Collaboration/Teamwork Attends staff meetings; follows HIPAA guidelines; follows patient rights policy; complies with the compliance program; demonstrates knowledge of role in a disaster; demonstrates knowledge of fire and fire drill procedures; working knowledge of hospital emergency codes; always utilizes standard precautions in the clinical setting; safely manages the environment of care by demonstrating a working knowledge of the requirements of the: Life Safety program, Utilities Management program, Hazardous Materials program, Emergency Preparedness program, Safety Management program, Medical Equipment Management program, Security Management program. Requirements Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience as a Laboratory Manager Education/License and Certification: BS Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Laboratory Science MT (ASCP) or equivalent.
