Physician (Aerospace Medicine) Fort Novosel, AL The Army Aviation Warfighting Center, Fort Novosel (formerly Fort Rucker), Alabama, is located in the southeast corner of Alabama. The post is in Dale County, approximately 80 miles south of Montgomery and 20 miles northwest of Dothan. Florida's Gulf Coast is 80 miles south. Nearby communities include Enterprise, Daleville, and Ozark, which serve as the main gates. The post spans about 64,500 acres in the 'Wiregrass' region, known for its unique wild grass and lower cost of living, making it attractive for real estate investments.

Responsibilities Position Duties:

Provides medical oversight to healthcare personnel in the Aviation Medicine Clinic, including allied health professionals and medical specialists. Coordinates care with civilian and military hospitals, plans work schedules, and evaluates staff performance. Identifies training needs.

Provides routine outpatient care within the scope of practice, including physical exams, follow-ups, profiles, medical boards, flight physicals, and aeromedical summaries for waivers. Uses systems like MHS Genesis, MEDPROS, and AERO. Must be board eligible or certified in Aviation Medicine or related fields, BLS certified, and capable of training others.

Supports the Aviation Safety Program through lectures, flight line inspections, accident investigations, and managing aeromedical requirements per USAAMA guidelines.

Understands the medical support mission at Fort Novosel, collaborates with ancillary services, and participates in training, including precepting residents.

Serves as flight surgeon on call, including irregular hours such as nights, weekends, and holidays. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Basic Requirements:

US Citizenship required

Board Certified/Eligible

Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy from an accredited U.S. or Canadian school, or foreign degree with ECFMG certification

Full, unrestricted medical license in U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory
