Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan repayment program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. VA physicians previously employed who met the qualifications at their initial appointment are deemed qualified. Basic Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed only if qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA policy. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Residency Training: Completion of an accredited residency program approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency must be approved by ACGME, AOA, or equivalent, with at least five years of verified practice in the U.S. for non-US residencies. Enrolled residents in accredited programs may be appointed as 'Physician Resident Providers' (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and work on an intermittent or fee basis. PRPs are not independent practitioners and do not have privileges. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting, carrying, reaching, use of fingers, walking, standing, bending, visual and auditory capabilities, and working alone. Duties

This is an open continuous announcement, extended until filled. Applications will be reviewed periodically. Offers comprehensive total rewards, including student loan repayment options. Major duties include performing and interpreting various echocardiograms, stress tests, ECGs, supervising procedures, managing emergencies, inpatient and outpatient care, teaching, and supervising trainees. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with call coverage and weekend rounding as needed. Alternate schedules may be required.
