About The Role This leadership role involves creating, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring engineering programs. The overall responsibility is to ensure high standards of property maintenance, including building, grounds, and physical plant, with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the work of the Engineering Team Members within the bounds of the collective bargaining agreement, contractors, and vendors. Activities encompass providing technical services, building maintenance systems, and overall administration to deliver an exceptional guest experience at the highest quality standards.
What You Will Do
Oversee property maintenance and engineering operations, including fire safety, energy conservation, environmental programs, budgeting, and capital expenditures, as well as project development and execution.
Develop plans for engineering team members’ growth and future opportunities within the brand and taskforce.
Source and recruit qualified candidates in the marketplace.
Identify and recommend potential Directors of Engineering for existing and new hotels.
Partner with regional leaders to source and develop contracts for products and services, ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and consistency.
Coordinate follow-up on engineering audits, third-party inspections, and energy audits, including ESG initiatives.
Establish and ensure adherence to policies and procedures, standards, benchmarks, and best practices.
Participate in biweekly calls with regional directors and other leadership as requested.
Provide guidance and support during emergency situations such as hurricanes or mechanical failures.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree (Professional certification is a plus)
At least 5 years’ experience as a Director of Engineering
Proven leadership skills and experience managing union groups
Ability to work independently
Skills & Requirements
Strong knowledge of HotSOS is a plus
Cross-regional or country experience is a plus
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Strong organizational and administrative skills
High computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite
Sound business decision-making ability
Analytical thinking and inductive reasoning skills
Physical & Environmental Demands
Normal office conditions, with some travel and physical activity as needed
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment under stress
