This is a Hybrid role requiring 1-2 days per week on-site in our Olathe, KS Fulfillment Center. Overview of WMS Software Developer The WMS Software Developer plays an important hands-on role in supporting the development and enhancement of our Warehouse Management System (WMS) and other internal systems. Working with technologies such as Java, Spring, Node.js, SQL Server, and Azure, this role will focus on building reliable, scalable solutions that support warehouse operations and inventory workflows. This position is ideal for a developer with solid programming fundamentals who is ready to grow within a collaborative team environment. The Software Developer will work closely with and under the guidance of senior developers, receiving mentorship while contributing to real-world business solutions. Group Overview: The WMS development team consists of one Senior Software Developer who also serves as the system architect, and two Software Developers who collaborate on individual projects. This role will work on separate initiatives from the Senior Developer but will do so under their guidance and technical direction. The developer will also partner with one or more Business Analysts to gather requirements and drive their projects from concept to delivery. Success in this role requires a strong sense of ownership, the ability to manage individual project components, and a proactive mindset in solving problems and delivering results. General Responsibilities: Software Development: Develops, tests, and maintains features and enhancements within the Warehouse Management System. Writes clean, maintainable code following internal standards and best practices. Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues related to warehouse operations and data flow. Works under the guidance of the WMS technical owner, contributing to project goals and deadlines. Participates in code reviews, incorporating feedback to improve skills and code quality. Communicate effectively with team members and cross-functional partners. WMS Focus: Gains a deep understanding of warehouse workflows, inventory tracking, and order fulfillment processes. Assists in building tools and integrations that optimize WMS performance and support warehouse staff. Supports testing and implementation of updates to the WMS platform. Technical Growth: Learn from senior developers by participating in design discussions, reviewing architecture decisions, and exploring best practices. Stays up to date with new tools and techniques relevant to WMS and enterprise software development. Requirements and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Proficiency in Java with an understanding of backend application development. The ability to switch to other technological languages as needed is required. 3+ years of experience with Spring MVC, Spring Boot. 3+ years of experience with SQL Server/T-SQL Stored Procedures, Views, Functions, triggers and optimization techniques. Previous experience with PHP. Exposure to warehouse, logistics, or supply chain systems. Ability to perform warehouse tasks in order to better understand processes. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Flexible and adaptable in regard to learning and understanding new technologies. Ability and willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Availability to travel to 1A warehouses.
