General Statement of Duties

Forsyth County's Parks and Recreation department has an opening for a Sr. Maintenance Technician. An employee is this position performs journeyman level tasks associated with all the aspects of maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment at Tanglewood Park. This position may also perform repairs at other Forsyth County Parks if the needs arise. This position is responsible for maintaining various equipment and systems associated with facility maintenance. May at times assist in other trades with complex repairs and renovations. The employee must perform regular inspections of buildings and equipment, prepare construction and repair estimates, estimate equipment and materials needed and maintain limited materials inventory. Repairs would range from simple maintenance related tasks to remodeling work in new and aged structures. Will assist and perform tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, repair, and take down of the annual Festival of Lights as well as other scheduled special events. This position also assists in the operation of the Aquatic Center during its seasonal operation. The person in this position would be responsible for performing routine paperwork, record keeping, storing tools and equipment in designated places in an orderly manner, and performing related work as required.

Work Schedule Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm May be required to work alternate schedule on a as needed basis, on call duties. Distinguishing Features

A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Considerable knowledge of the materials, tools and methods used in a building trade such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical work or in grounds maintenance.

Working knowledge of one or more additional trades.

Ability to work from plans and specifications.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to do a variety of skilled maintenance work.

Ability to oversee the work of others.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Minimum Education and Experience

Graduation from high school or GED and three years of journeyman level experience. Must have experience leading the work of others.

Prefer completion of technical school program or certification in one or more specific trades.

HVAC CFC certification and knowledge of HVAC Systems installation and maintenance is preferred. CPO certified or the ability to obtain that certification is highly desirable

A valid driver's license is required.

A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
