Medication Care Coordination Pharmacy Technician

The Medication Care Coordination Team (MCC) is a centralized team that works closely with six departments to help obtain prior authorizations for high-cost medications, quantity limits, tier exceptions, and non-formulary medications that are ordered by providers. The MCC team covers multiple provider offices and specialties and collaborates with insurance companies, pharmacies, and Corewell Health clinics to obtain the necessary information for completing a prior authorization and ensuring accurate prescription processing at the destination pharmacy. The medication care coordination pharmacy technician will support medication access and prior authorization completion across a variety of ambulatory clinics. This is a hybrid position that will include initial onsite training, followed by the ability to work remotely once workflow competency is demonstrated. The tasks for this position will include, but are not limited to, completing pre and/or prior authorizations, assisting with patient assistance programs, scheduling patients from provider referrals or other registries, working with insurance companies to review coverages, communicating with patients and clinical staff, and managing parts of the medication use cycle. There will be additional opportunities to think innovatively and collaborate on projects with other departments and within our own department. Qualifications: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred: Associate's Degree 1 year of relevant experience Retail or Ambulatory Pharmacy Experience Preferred 1 year of relevant experience Prior Authorization Experience or Insurance Navigation Preferred 1 year of relevant experience Epic Experience Preferred LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required CRT-Pharmacy Technician, Certified (CPHT) - PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Excludes - LIC - Pharmacist Intern 90 Days required Ideal candidate will be a Pharmacy Technician possessing Full License and Pharmacy Technician National Certification, from PTCB or from NHA Ideal candidate will also possess Retail Pharmacy Technician experience as well as experience working with insurance companies and doing prior authorizations Ideal candidate will be a self-starter possessing strong communication skills, and someone who is a team player The team is required to come On-Site twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall for Continued Training. Also may be asked to come On-Site if Additional Training is needed.
