Cytotechnologist
to join our Laboratory Services team. The Cytotechnologist is responsible for providing reliable and diagnostic data on body specimens through microscopic evaluation. The role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while ensuring the highest standards of quality and patient safety. Key Responsibilities:
Screen gynecologic and non-gynecologic smears to detect and differentiate normal and abnormal cells, assigning them to appropriate diagnostic classifications.
Correlate and interpret data based on a solid understanding of physiological conditions that may affect test results.
Recognize problems, identify causes, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions.
Operate analytical instruments used in cytologic testing, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot basic malfunctions.
Prepare and stain cytology slides for examination.
Operate laboratory computer systems, including programs for reporting patient results and processing test charges.
Independently classify specimens for PAP smears; refer abnormal and questionable cases to the pathologist.
Participate in proficiency testing and ongoing quality control programs, including random rescreening of negative and high-risk cases.
Assist with fine needle aspiration (FNA) procedures and in setting quality benchmarks for new procedures.
Adhere to hospital standards of conduct, safety protocols, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Report safety concerns or hazardous conditions promptly and appropriately.
Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating professional judgment and accountability.
