Dining Hall Cashier
Located in Brunswick, Maine, Bowdoin College boasts a student population of almost 2000. Our Dining Services Department makes everything from scratch and are consistently rated in the top 10 for college dining! We are seeking a Dining Hall Cashier to join the team! Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Greeting dining service patrons pleasantly, verifying student and employee identification, and board availability for specific meals. Verify meal counts. Operating the computerized checking system that monitors board plans and employee debit plans and determining access eligibility to the dining halls. Troubleshooting and promptly reporting system problems. Accurately handling credit card transactions based on price list. Providing excellent customer service especially relating to customer queries regarding function locations, menu, campus directions and any other general informational questions. Restocking checking station supplies including candies, deposit slips, charge forms, and other office supplies. May be required to perform light cleaning duties, as needed. Performs basic sanitation and food preparation duties in between meal periods. Sample tasks include wiping tables, bussing dishes, sweeping and mopping dining rooms, and basic food preparation. The hourly rate for this position is $18.00 per hour. Education/Skills Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent Strong customer service orientation with positive, friendly, helpful attitude Strong problem solving skills Strong commitment to dependability and punctuality Ability to work in a fast paced environment Ability to follow written and verbal direction Ability to perform simple mathematic equations Ability to work independently and as part of a team Working knowledge of good personal hygiene practices Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents: Entry level position, no prior work experience required At least one year of experience in a cashier capacity highly preferred Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications in this posting to be considered for hire. Standard Work Days and Hours: This is an onsite, part-time, non-benefit eligible position working less than 20 hours/week. This position will be on-call covering absences at the front desk. There is opportunity for flexible scheduling with shifts available in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Scheduling accommodations are available based on the candidate's availability.
