Position Overview
We are seeking a
Certified Electrician
to join our fast-growing, dynamic team as a
Data Center Field Technician . This role plays a critical part in representing our company within customers mission-critical data centers. The ideal candidate will help clients reduce energy costs, ensure 100% uptime, and maintain operational competitiveness.
The Data Center Field Technician is responsible for meeting with customers to identify needs, performing installation and maintenance on Energy Management Systems, switchgear, UPS, electrical, and power generation equipment. This position requires traveling to client sites to conduct troubleshooting, operations support, and proactive maintenance.
You will serve as a trusted technical resource, ensuring the stability and performance of physical infrastructure that powers and cools data centers housing critical IT servers and systems.
Key Responsibilities Perform
root cause analysis
on equipment failures and recommend corrective actions. Conduct
installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance
of electrical systems, switchgear, UPS, and power generation equipment. Troubleshoot
facility and rack-level events
within established service-level agreements (SLAs). Ensure
strict adherence to all safety procedures
(OSHA, NFPA, and company protocols) while on site. Take and record
operational readings
of electrical and cooling equipment. Utilize
CMMS
(Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to manage workflows and maintenance records. Meet with customers to identify
data center infrastructure needs
and gather technical requirements. Perform
administrative tasks
including data entry in Excel, drafting work authorizations, and creating work orders. Maintain
power and cooling systems
and ensure clean, controlled environments for mission-critical operations. Supervise and coordinate work with subcontractors and junior technicians as needed. Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of
Technical, Military, or Trade School
training in electrical systems. NFPA 70
and
OSHA 10
Certification (must be current). Minimum
2+ years
of relevant electrical and/or mechanical work experience, preferably in a
data center or critical environment . Strong
verbal and written communication
skills. Solid
leadership and organizational
capabilities. High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize in a
fast-paced, complex environment . Proven troubleshooting skills in
switchgear, UPS, and power generation systems . Preferred:
23 years
of experience in
project management
or team leadership, ideally within the
switchgear industry . Demonstrated success managing
multi-functional teams
and cross-departmental projects. Strong
analytical, planning, and time management
skills. Experience developing a
high-performance team culture . Effective decision-making skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities in dynamic environments. Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to lift up to
50 lbs
and work in confined spaces. Availability for
travel
to customer sites as needed. Willingness to work
on-call
or outside regular hours for emergency support. Exposure to loud equipment noise, high-voltage areas, and temperature-controlled clean room environments.
