Job Summary and Qualifications General Statement of Duties: Provide every patient with the highest quality of professional care and ensure the safety of the patient while in transport. Uses good body mechanics needed to care for patients. Demonstrates knowledge needed for proper use of wheelchairs, stretchers and other transporting equipment. What you will do in this Role: Transporter must introduce himself/herself to the patient; identify the patient by checking armband to assure transportation of the correct patient. Provide transportation of patients throughout the hospital, including discharge. Signs the patient in and out on the unit or uses Teletracking Transport module. Maintains a cooperative and ethical relationship with patients. Understands and follows infection control/universal precautions in the performance of all tasks. Understands and follows fall prevention and hand-off communication in the performance of all tasks. Additional Job Roles: May handle, pick up, deliver and/or stock non-controlled medications as directed by a licensed team member. Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals. Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function. Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. The Transporter shall play an active role in orientation and training of new employees. Yearly, the Transporter will participate in and complete their Job Skills/Competency checklist. Previous experience in the Hospital role desirable. Minimum License and Certificates Required: Must hold a current CPR certification or must obtain during orientation period. Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date Methodist Hospital Metropolitan houses 370 bed. We house the largest emergency room in downtown San Antonio.
