Ophthalmic Technician

University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time Ophthalmic Technician to support the Urgent Eye Care Center located at 1622 Locust Street, Ste. G.130 Pittsburgh, Pa., 15219. This role will work Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm (opportunity for overtime; hours for the clinic are Monday through Friday 8am to 9pm). Less than 5% travel will be required to cover other services within the Vision Institute and/or Satellites. Responsibilities:

Imaging: OCT, HVF & Optos photos Pupillary assessment: check for APD, swing light test History taking to include ocular, medical, medication, social and family. Lensometry: automated Angle assessment & dilation of pupils Assist with maintaining office inventory, notifying appropriate staff when supplies are needed, restocking exam rooms, cleaning and sterilizing of instruments and cleaning patient exam rooms at end of day. Confrontational Visual fields & Amsler Grid Supplemental skills: PH test/morgan lens, Color testing, glare test, Pachy Ocular Motility: Cover/uncover test, Hirschberg test, cross cover test, stereo testing, W4D Tonometry: I-care, Tonopen, Goldmann and the care and proper disinfection of Visual acuity assessment: distance, pinhole, best corrected. Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in an Ophthalmology office or combination of related education and/or experience preferred. Completion of AAO Home Study Course is preferred.
