Mary Baldwin University invites applications for a full-time Associate Director for the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted. Established in 1842, Mary Baldwin is a liberal arts institution with a residential college of 800 students, along with non-residential adult and graduate programs. The Program for the Exceptionally Gifted, founded in 1985, serves young residential women who may enter the university as young as twelve years old. This program is a unique, signature offering for MBU and has gained national recognition as an innovative approach to educational acceleration. The Associate Director collaborates with the Program Director to support these exceptional students. Position Summary:
The Associate Director supervises and coordinates the residential component of the program. Reporting to the Vice President of Student Engagement, this role provides primary student support during weekday daytime hours. The role involves representing the programs needs, mission, philosophy, and policies to internal and external stakeholders, including staff, students, faculty, parents, and partner institutions. Responsibilities include supervision, programming, social and emotional support, and other duties, serving as a crucial link for PEG students to ensure a safe, supportive, and nurturing residential environment. The role requires close collaboration with resident assistants, tutors, student support staff, and various campus offices such as BIT/CARE and health and wellness services. Planning events, enrichment activities, and social opportunities for students is also expected. Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in gifted education or related field (psychology, counseling, social work, secondary education, or special education preferred) At least five years of full-time experience working with adolescent females Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies Decision-making skills in emergency situations and flexibility To Apply:
