Medical Director Position

The Medical Director is a full-time leadership position responsible for the oversight and coordination of all clinical services provided at the IMAN Health Center. This role combines administrative leadership with direct patient care responsibilities, delivering high-quality, family-oriented primary care. The Medical Director ensures clinical excellence, compliance with regulatory standards, and alignment with organizational goals. Clinical Responsibilities (40% FTE) Provides comprehensive, outpatient primary care across the lifespan, including preventive care, chronic disease management, acute care, and follow-up. Ensures continuity and coordination of care for all patients, maintaining high standards of evidence-based practice. Documents patient encounters accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record in a timely manner, consistent with clinic policies and billing requirements. Maintains required licensure and board certification; fulfills continuing medical education requirements and stays up to date on clinical guidelines and evidence-based practices. Administrative & Leadership Responsibilities (60% FTE) Leads clinical operations, including utilization review, collaborative care, case management, and related policy and practice initiatives. Establishes and monitors clinical protocols, treatment standards, and quality benchmarks. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accreditation standards. Develops, implements, and evaluates clinical practice guidelines and quality improvement initiatives. Monitors performance metrics and outcomes, addressing gaps in care. Supervises the Behavioral Health Director and, through that role, all licensed independent practitioners, including volunteers. Prepares regular reports for the Board of Directors and Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Committee. Collaborates with IMAN leadership to align clinical services with the clinics mission, budget, and strategic goals. Leads and participates in provider and clinical team meetings to promote communication, education, and performance standards. Oversees quality assurance and performance improvement activities across clinical programs. Required Qualifications: Licensed physician (M.D. or D.O.) with active clinical experience. Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics. Current, unrestricted medical license in the State of Illinois. Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience in primary care, preferably in a safety-net or community health setting. Minimum five (5) years of leadership or management experience in a healthcare or managed care environment. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse clinical teams and implement programmatic improvements. Strong knowledge of primary care, preventive health, and healthcare regulations. Skills in communication, team-building, and data-informed decision-making. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with value-based care models, health equity principles, and quality improvement methods preferred. Bilingual in English and another language (Spanish or Arabic) highly preferred to effectively serve the clinics patient population. Travel Requirements: Limited local travel is required. Occasional domestic travel may be expected. Physical Requirements and Working Environment: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during clinical work, meetings, and administrative tasks. Sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform clinical examinations, review medical records, and operate computer systems. Capacity to occasionally lift or move light objects (e.g., medical supplies, files). Physical ability to respond to emergency situations if needed.
