This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening. JOB OBJECTIVE:

To design, install, monitor, and troubleshoot computer systems networks and network connected devices to meet data processing and information needs for City departments, including internal network access and Internet access. Responsible for installing, configuring, and managing security systems, and assisting with security measures for the Citys network systems. Implements voice and data network security designs to ensure systems are patched and protected from unauthorized access. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Designs, installs, monitors, and troubleshoots computer networks and devices to meet department needs. Installs, configures, and maintains security systems such as firewalls, VPNs, email/web filters, active directory, IAM, MFA, and other security servers. Acts as a security SME, advising teams on best practices and identifying security gaps. Provides end-user training and support for security compliance and resource use. Monitors network traffic and security alerts to mitigate incidents. Configures access controls, authentication, and authorization protocols. Performs security audits to maintain network integrity. Develops and maintains security for network access and standalone systems. Designs and configures network hardware such as routers, switches, and security devices. Assists in developing network addressing and security documentation. Updates and patches network security systems, monitors performance, and troubleshoots issues. Provides technical assistance for hardware and software procurement and setup. Works with vendors and reviews technical documentation. Installs and maintains server applications. Prepares activity reports and maintains documentation for security projects. Operates a City vehicle as needed.

None. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, with at least three years of experience in network security, designing and implementing networks, and securing network devices. Equivalent education and experience will be considered. Valid Arkansas Class D Drivers License. Obtain CJIS security certification within 30 days of employment. Availability to work nights, holidays, weekends, and respond to emergencies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, CIS, SOC2, and governance policies. Knowledge of security architecture, cloud security, and enterprise security technologies. Knowledge of network design, protocols, and management practices. Skills in network hardware operation, troubleshooting, and training. Ability to communicate effectively and develop documentation.
