Position Summary:
The Student Support Specialist develops, implements, and coordinates programs and services to promote the behavioral and emotional well-being of students, staff, and the school community across the district. This role collaborates with school teams to align mental health, behavioral, and academic supports, fostering a positive environment that supports student success and holistic development.
Key Responsibilities: Program Development and Implementation : Design and implement district-wide student support programs addressing behavioral and emotional needs and reducing maladaptive behaviors. Oversee program implementation to ensure alignment with district goals and effective outcomes. Coordination and Collaboration : Support school teams in building expertise in emotional regulation and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Partner with Mental Health, Personnel, and Curriculum departments to align support services. Work with principals to analyze data and develop tailored MTSS strategies and coping mechanisms for students and staff. Professional Development : Deliver professional development sessions based on best practices in behavioral and emotional support and MTSS. Use data analysis to tailor training to the needs of schools and district stakeholders. Stay current with trends in behavioral health, mental health, and crisis intervention. Data Analysis : Analyze school- and district-wide data to identify needs and develop targeted support programs. Create user-friendly data tracking tools to monitor program effectiveness and guide continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Mental Health, Education or Related Field. Master's Degree highly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of three years of experience with advanced work in Behavioral Health, Mental Health, or Educational Neuroscience, preferably in a school setting within an MTSS model. Advanced working knowledge within the field of Educational Neuroscience, Data Analysis preferred. Proven record of effective Professional Development, Leadership Ability, and Collaboration with Teachers and Administrators is required.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, students and the community.
Ability to develop and implement user-friendly data tracking tools.
Ability to conduct Trend Analysis on data that can be used to identify needs and guide in the development of supports and measurement of implementation efficacy.
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments to assist in developing and implementing strategies that enhance and support the social and emotional health of staff.
Strong working knowledge of social/emotional components of MTSS and PBS/PBIS, and ability to guide teams in continuous improvement within and across the corporation.
Ability to design and implement strategies in compliance with Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) best practices.
